Is this Home, or this Home?
Reading Gloria Anzaldua's piece, "Borderlands, La Frontera The New Mestiza" and "The Homeland, Aztlan" hit a different place in the values presented in all this. There were points in the article where I was thinking this is all normal because we are used to it. Moments such as when Anzaldua was explaining how when the kids were outside, they would run around and they would be running around, and Anzaldua would describe how the mom would always say "don't run" in Spanish because they might notice that they are not a part of the village or the city or anything like that. Any of the above would result in the fact that there was this certain immigration boundary between everyone and amongst them. No matter what they tried to do or how they were, having a feeling of home was not on their top list because of how much they were scared. Which brings in the idea of immigration and how they always looked at the border as such a heavy burden on them. Which is...
