Dear Cristy Road: Questions

The graphic novel, "Spit And Passion", published by the infamous Cristy Road has everyone thinking about the different topics of the world. One of the topics covered is the idea that there is a lot of maturity in this graphic novel, and the idea of growing up, and finding yourself and having a certain identity. Amongst all this, there is a question of how people accept this. One question I have for Cristy Road is that "How do you think people view this mature opinions?" The vast amount of people who accept gay people is low compared to how people accept a man-woman relationship. So, what inspires Cristy Road for these ideas? Many people are aware of these ideas in the world, yet no one wants to accept it because it is out of the norm. This reminds me of how women trying to grow and be themselves in the 1900's to 1950's was a huge obstacle for everyone to accept, and this is the same way how the topic is being diminished. So, with all this said, what truly inspired Road to write this, and be brave enough to accept the hatred and the love comments from all this? Being such a controversial topic, it could be a huge question for a writer, but Road portrayed all these topics in such a way that it is about acceptance, and ignoring the true ignorance in this world. Amongst all this, what is a part of these controversies is a heart of gold, which I want to ask next, is what inspired the heart of gold to add into the entire graphic novel? I ask this because there are multiple scenes where the identity is questioned, but in such a way that makes you wonder this person must have such a pure heart of gold, because of all the thoughts and ideas. Besides the ideas of what inspired and brought about this idea, I want to ask are you proud of how much of a success and motivation this has brought? Almost everyone in college has heard of this graphic novel, and slowly, as a combined effort, the ignorance is fading, and many more thoughts are making it to the point where people truly hear and see it, and has become an inspiring read.
