Problem Unresolved: Immigration and Ignorance

Depicting Ignorant People in a Funny Manner
When we look at ourselves, what do we see? We may see our identity, we may see our heritage, we may see our cheeks, or the color of our skin, we may see the different cultures represented in the back of our minds, we may see the many different ideas we have represented in this life, we may see the obstacles we have faced and many more. In the video we watched in class about the girl who had three identities, one here in America and one in Mexico, with her Chicano side of her, all because of how the world and the stereotype made her feel. Just like this, in the movie, Precious Knowledge, the ideas are the same. Even the ideas are the same, we just carry it on and add onto these precious ideas. We do not realize what people go through. In the film, the girl at first tells us her story, and how she describes her father in a "holding cell". The matter of fact, this is the hardest thing she had to face, but something she will never forget, and will always hold onto her, and will adapt with this alongside her. However, this will only embrace her to a bigger and better person, not to be cliché or anything. And, when in schools, they want to add these classes that are cultural, and help out, and teach children a whole different outlook, then it is a matter, that people do not like the new differences being added into everything. So, even though there are a mass of non-ignorant people and open-minded people in this world, there are also very ignorant people in this world. They do not want to accept this change which is coming into this world. Even though, just as the film exclaimed, we have reached many milestones, such as a “African-American” president, or segregated schools, women’s rights, white and black schools, Asians in the USA, and more. Having reached these milestones, there are still ignorant people who want to hide the culture and hide the idea of having cultural studies in classes. However, there is no harm in them, even the film depicted how much the kids had a positive impact from this. And, with effort, lots of persuading and positive showings, it will continue to improve all throughout.
